M•CON Underground successfully completed a large-scale waste relocation project at the City of St. Joseph, MO landfill, relocating 85,000 cubic yards of compacted waste — 127,500 cubic yards of total material handled — while cutting 28 vertical feet of elevation off the existing waste mass. Working against a tight 35 working day deadline, our crew hauled the relocated material directly into the cell previously excavated by our own team on the Cell 8 Expansion project, then capped the entire disturbed area with a compacted 1-foot shale layer to restore and protect the site.

Large-Scale Waste Relocation: The project required relocating 85,000 cubic yards of compacted waste — 127,500 cubic yards of total material handled — cutting 28 vertical feet of elevation from the existing landfill mass, a major undertaking executed by M•CON’s experienced operators and project management team.
Aggressive 35-Day Schedule: With a strict 35 working day deadline, the relocation demanded tight coordination and efficient hauling logistics to move waste from the existing footprint into the cell excavated during M•CON’s Cell 8 Expansion project — a direct continuation of the trust built on that earlier work.
Final Capping & Site Restoration: To close out the disturbed area, M•CON placed and compacted a 1-foot cap of shale across the entire site, restoring surface integrity and preparing the area for long-term landfill operation.
Moving 85,000 cubic yards of waste in just 35 working days took precision, coordination, and a crew that refused to fall behind schedule.
